Ahwatukee Lakes Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole executive golf course located in Phoenix, Arizona.
The course first opened for play in 1977. The course was designed by Gary Panks.
Water hazards come into play on 11 of the 18 holes. There are 6 par 4s on the course, but no par 5s. Locals claim you will need every club in your bag and probably a couple of extra golf balls when you play here.
Blue tees: par-60, 4,019 yards
White tees: par-60, 3,660 yards
Red tees: par-60, 3,177 yards
The course closed for play May 2013 after several years of decline. "It doesn't make sense, as an executive course," course owner Wilson Gee said. "It is not competitive. I'd like to do something else. I'm looking at senior housing..."
None of Ahwatukee Golf's other properties - Ahwatukee Country Club, Club West Golf Club, the Duke Golf Club, and Foothills Golf Club - are affected by the closure of the Lakes.

Generally a nice Executive course, harder than it appears. But the fairways & greens need some work, maybe they're better in the spring / fall. I will still play it occasionally based on proximity, price and its good for less than full shots and the need to thin about club selection (lay up, go for it, etc.)
